The Archives of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad Historical Society are located in the Don Owens Building at the Heritage Discovery Center, in Buffalo, NY http://www.trainweb.org/wnyhdc/ . The Archives are open for all information requests and research by members of the Society and the general public.
Only that portion of the archive collection which has been processed, is available for immediate research use. Other research materials are being added continually as our volunteer Archive Committee team processes them.
Prospective researchers can determine if the archives collection has information relevant to their interests by reviewing “ELHS Collection Scope and Content”.
For further assistance in determining what is available, the researcher can contact the ELRRHS Archive directly by email. They can use the domain you are currently on and send it to archives@ or use the contact us form. Our Archivist Joe Schveder, and Curator Scott Randolph, will then directly provide assistance and advice on what we are likely to have on the subject of interest, so the researcher can decide if we have relevant material, or a trip to the archives will be worthwhile.
The archives are open by appointment only so proper Archive Committee staff can be on hand to provide assistance. When the researcher decides to visit the archives in Buffalo, one of our volunteers can then put him/her in touch with a member of the committee staff to schedule a research session.
We regret that we cannot perform any research for you.
